Everything else, is not yes.
I don’t know, I’m not sure, Can you stop?
Maybe not now, can we wait? I changed my mind, I’m not sure, let’s take things slow, not now, I’m scared, WAIT.
All of the sentences listed above, are a clear NO.
nothing can be compared or intended as YES unless is a clear strong yes.
There are too many cases of “misunderstanding” of a simple word, I personally cannot understand. If you find yourself in a caffe and the waitress says
”Hi good morning, would you like pancakes for breakfast?”
You rather have just a black coffee, so your kindly say
”I’m not sure right now, Maybe later thanks”
Do you think that the waitress will present herself at your table with a big plate of pancakes? Of course not.
Let’s do another example the other way around, you ask me
” Do you want a red pen or a blue pen?”
I will answer that I like blue, and I would like to have a blue pen.
You give me then the blue pen right? So you understand that I want the blue pen and not the red.
Last example
”I’m tired, I should head home”
Did I say that I want to party or make out tonight? Or did I say that I feel excited and in a positive mood to do something else rather then going home? I don’t really think so.
I believe in educated people, who might say “ If you want to stay longer I’m happy to have you here” but I do not believe in misunderstandings when someone intentions are pretty clear.
clear intentions is a delicate topic, but I will try my best to make the topic clear.
For you something can mean “that” and for me can mean something else, correct.
But if someone tells someone else “I’m tired, I should go home.” Or “next time” there nothing to be interpreted, is a clear answer already. Some can even say “maybe”, well let me clear this too, “maybe” and ANY OTHER UNCERTAIN ANSWERS , MEANS NO.
If it was a yes, trust me, they wouldn’t have any problem telling you. Especially if you wanted to hear that yes too.
This mentality of “it wasn’t clear enough” should stop.
If is not clear, then don’t. If with doubts, don’t. If you are sure or unsure, and this person tells you something else rather than
If you agree and want to spread awareness of this topic feel free to share it, the world still needs to grow.
